Every Strapline piece starts as a simple piece of leather and is carefully handcrafted. I do enjoy every step of this process.

Step 1: Choosing the leather.

Every project begins with selecting quality Italian leather. I look for beautiful textures, character and colour combination that will age gracefully over time.

Step 2: designing and pattern making.

Before a single cut is made, I create/reproduce and test patterns to ensure each design is practical, durable and beautiful.

Step 3: cutting by hand.

Each piece is individually cut by hand. This allows me to pay attention to grain, any markings and the tiniest detail that machines simply can't see.

Step 4: assembly.

Components are carefully assembled and checked before the stitching process begins. I might hand-stitch or stich using a heavy-duty sewing machine, depending on the project. Sometimes I combine both.

Step 5: stitching & finishing.

Stitching adds strength and character. Edges are finished, burnished and polished to create a smooth, professional finish. I find this part quite a tricky one in order to reach a great looking result. It definitely takes practice!

Step 6: quality check.

Before leaving my atelier, every piece is checked to ensure it meets my standards for quality and craftsmanship. I use very special tools: my own two eyes, and sometimes even asking AI for its feedback!

Step 7: packaging.

Your Strapline piece is carefully packaged and prepared for its journey to its new home.

I take a photo of every piece I make because I know I'll probably never see it again as all of them are unique and from a piece of leather I may not be able to source ever again.

Final note.

Handmade means no two pieces are exactly alike.

Small variations in grain, texture and colour are part of the beauty of genuine leather and make every Strapline piece uniquely yours.
